A Weekend on Galveston Island

The last weekend in June we made the 1.5 hour trip down to Galveston, or what Houstonian’s refer to as simply “The Island”. Our friends have a house down there and were gracious enough to let us stay for the weekend.

As soon as we unpacked the car we headed down to the beach.

Isla had a great time honing her boogie boarding “skills” while Holden just enjoyed the sounds of the ocean and the crashing waves.

Thank goodness for Daddies who can throw 50+ lbs…

It’s well documented that Holden loves water of ANY kind, but the beach is truly his happy place.

After explaining that we were all done, and it was time to go back and shower Holden got out of the water with Dad, but then made a sneaky maneuver and was off again!

Clearly Isla likes the beach as well ;)

After a beautiful evening on the beach we headed back to get cleaned up and grab a quick dinner at the local pizza spot.

The next morning we spent some more time on the beach before heading downtown to “The Strand”.

The Strand is a quirky little downtown reminiscent of New Orleans. Theres a lot of cute little shops, street art, and you can drink on the streets.

We spent the day shopping, eating, and exploring

Of course no beach trip is complete without a trip to the candy store

Once again, sibling picture FAIL

By the end of the day we were all exhausted and ready for bed.

The next morning we packed up and headed out. The plan was to stop at Pleasure Pier on our way back to Katy.

Holden’s favorite ride - the GIANT swing did not produce an anxiety attack with Jordan… at least not this time around - LOL!

However, I really shouldn’t make fun. It was pretty hard for me to even get on the Ferris wheel! I’m glad I did though - I would have hated to miss this precious boys reaction (insert heart face emojis).

But the scariest ride of the day was by far the Iron Shark. I must have looked at this photo a hundred times! I go back and forth between feeling sad for them and laughing my butt off ;).

Thanks again to the Kennedy family for sharing their beautiful home with us. We had a great time!
